PUSH!!! RELEASE!!! Vision 2020

We live in a world where immorality is on the rise. We listen to the news, and at times we hear of babies found in garbage dumps, rivers and varying places unscrupulous in nature. Some were miraculously saved; others died. I know many of us look on and are of the opinion that this is very inhumane and devilish. Quite frankly, I share the same sentiments. But did you know many of us that neglect our gifts that the Lord Jesus Christ has given us for His purpose are actually throwing our babies away? How different are we then from those we consider heartless and wicked people? Walk with me, as we journey together along this thought: “Don’t throw your baby away”.
Jochebed, the mother of Moses received a gift when the law of her land was set against it. But being a woman of faith, she did not throw her baby away! The Bible tells us that when Jochebed saw the baby, she saw that he was a goodly child, one of worth and purpose. I believe it was for this very reason she could not throw him away. She however hid him for three months and when she could no longer hide him, she made an ark for him and laid him in the river. She didn’t leave him unsupervised, as the Scripture reveals that his sister stood afar off and watched. At that same moment – I call it divine destiny- Pharaoh’s daughter was at the river with her maiden. She saw the ark and it sparked some interest. She was curious to know what was in this ark and commanded that her maiden bring it to her. When she saw the child in the ark, they concluded that it was one of the children belonging to the Hebrew women. God allowed the enemy to have compassion on the child. The maiden suggested to get one of the Hebrew women to nurse the child and Pharaoh’s daughter agreed. You can call it coincidence, but I believe it was God’s providential act.
It didn’t stop there… The scripture reveals that it was Jochebed, the mother of the child who was selected to nurse her own son and receive wages for the same. What a God we serve! Jochebed’s divine role in the life of Moses was not yet complete. She had to complete and bring the gift to maturity so that purpose could be actualized. I strongly believe that she was instrumental in educating Moses in the Hebrew laws, and that there is but one God. She must have taught him his identity, and planted a seed that will one day germinate and bring forth fruit. This fruit was produced, as the book of Hebrews declares that when Moses became of age he refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; choosing to suffer with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season. Years later, that child Moses had his personal experience with this God of the Hebrews he was told about. God speaking to him in the burning bush, and revealing to him his divine destiny! He was the one chosen to lead the people of Israel out of the Egyptian bondage. Today, Moses is one of the most famous Bible characters, accomplishing many exploits under God.
But! I want you to understand that Moses couldn’t have been if Jochebed didn’t preserve his life. She choose to keep her baby alive even though the odds were against her. She could have lost her life for her act of courage, but God was faithful to her because of her desire to please Him. She understood that the child was God’s gift and as such she had a duty to nurture what God had given her.
The God of Jochebed has not stopped giving gifts to humanity. In fact, each and everyone of us have been carefully given a gift – some would call it a talent – by the Almighty Himself. It was never given to be hidden and kept to ourselves but for God’s purpose to be achieved through us. Many of us, ignorantly, have thrown our babies away. We have neglected the gift that God has invested in us. How inhumane are we? How wicked are we? We have prematurely destroyed our babies, not giving them enough time to grow and for purpose to be achieved.
Like Jochebed, I know there will be challenges that will seek to prevent us from nurturing our baby and taking it to a place of actualization. Lack of resources, support and time are the few challenges we face. But I urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, please don’t throw your baby away! Like Jochebed, you first have to see the good in the gift God has given you, see through the eyes of faith what God can do through with what He has blessed you. Jochebed saw that the child was one of purpose, thus she couldn’t have abided by the laws of the land and destroy purpose.
God first said to Moses, what do you have in your hands? This shows that God will use what we have for His glory. I don’t know what is in your hands, laid on your heart or how gifted you are, but whatever it is and wherever you are, God will reach down to your level and use it for His glory. Your gift was given to you for a divine purpose. Sometimes it will take some lonely moments with the gift for God to reveal His will to you.
Jochebed hid the child for three months. I believe she understood the value of the gift but didn’t know how to treasure it, as the law was against her. It was within these three months that God gave her insight for the preservation of the gift. After three months Jochebed must have come to a state where she knew what the Lord required from her and her gift. I don’t believe it was her own understanding that led her to build an ark, I believe without doubt it was the Lord’s inspiration at work. The ark like that of Noah represents a place of safety. And so she protected her gift from the enemy and everything that was set in opposition to purpose. We are challenged to do likewise for our gift to reach where God wants it to be. We have to build our ark, a place of safety. A place that even though there may be crocodiles and other dangerous reptiles lurking, the baby is protected.
Even with the ark supervision is needed. It is always good to have the support of even one person to help you nurture the gift. Two the Bible says two is better than one. Timothy had Paul to guide him in the way of truth and help him to mature on his Christian path. Who do you have?
God has provision for you and your gift! Proverbs 18:16: “A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men”. I don’t know what God has in store for you but I know His words are sure. Once you haven’t thrown your baby away, the day will come when your baby will take you to places and accomplish the things that God has intended for it to do.
I remember some of Usain Bolt’s early interviews. He had a poor command of the English Language; he could hardly form a proper sentence. That however did not stop him from winning races, breaking records and bearing the title “the world’s fastest man”. His gift made room for him. It has taken him places he couldn’t have gone if he wasn’t a gifted athlete. I am also certain he has met some great men and women that he wouldn’t have been privileged to meet were it not for his title.
His gift has made room for him! I am sure he wasn’t always a champion; he didn’t win all his races. I believe some days the training process got very difficult and he wanted to give up. I can safely say there may have been days his coaches came down hard on him and he felt as if we wouldn’t make it. But! He stuck it out: he didn’t throw his baby away, and today he is reaping his reward.
You may look at your gift and see it as insignificant to others. It may not be that you are as athletic as Bolt; a gifted singer as Bob Marley; an excellent poet and writer as Louise Bennett; nor an excellent batsman as Brian Lara. But the gift that God has blessed you with is able to do what God designed it to do.
Don’t compare with others. You may never travel the world but your gift can be effective to those in your immediate surroundings. And that may very well be the will of God for your life. Only preserve your baby! Don’t throw your baby away. In the fullness of time as you nurture your baby, the Lord Jesus will bring it to actualization and purpose will be accomplished. Wait, be of good courage and again I say… don’t throw your baby away!

Let 2020 be the year of greatness! What is in your hands? Use it for the glory of God. Let us all do our part to enhance the Kingdom. Forward still tis Jehovah’s will. Shalom.
